Does anyone know what the plans are for the Regent Palace hotel building at Piccadilly Circus?

The original planning application was for a mixture of offices and some social housing with a small 5 star hotel. Not sure if it went through.

Possibly our own Adam Hornets a fervent long term cheerleader of all things Regents Palace, (possibly misheard) has lodged an appeal in a last ditch effort to resurrect the Place to its former glory.

I miss it so much. It used to be our second home when visiting London. I´ve tried so hard but can´t find any hotel so central located and still so cheap. London isn´t the same without it!

The last time I wandered past the place, nothing had been done to the building, and there were no signs indicating future plans.

I've a coworker who had a huge jones for the hotel as well, despite my somewhat knee-jerk reaction of 'but you can do better!' when he told me how much he liked it.

Vetlanda, consider the hotels along Gower Street or some of the nicer hotels on Argyle Square, near King's Cross. Not quite as central, perhaps, but all have great transport connections, most without the hit or miss reviews of the Regent Palace.

Will that former glory include the bedbugs, vomit and general filth found amongst it's hallowed halls? =)

The only cheering from me was when I heard the place was closing down!

I did read somewhere that planning permission had been refused for the original plans for part or all of the building but if I hear anything I will keep you posted.
