 Tube Stop for Southall?

I'm leaving for London this Thursday! Hurrah! I would really like to spend some time exploring the Asian shopping/ eating neighborhood in West London, (Have alternately seen it spelled Southall or Southhall) and have heard it's easily accessible from the Tube, but I can't find it on any Tube maps or station lists. Any suggestions?

There's no Tube station in Southall, but there is a railway station which you can get to from Paddington. Alternatively, there are buses to the heart of Southall from various Tube stations e.g. Hounslow West (H32), Hounslow Central (120)Greenford (105) and Northolt (120).

I would have thought that the 207 bus was one of the best routes into Southall, it goes from Shepherds Bush to Southall with a few tube stations en route ie Bush itself, Ealing Common, Ealing Broadway.

I prefer the bus myself as you get the bearings of where you are and can watch the world go by.

I'd enjoy a bus route, actually. Babspanky, would I pick up the 207 at the Shepherd's Bush stop on the Hammersmith or Central line? It looks like there are two...

CircusMM,

Hope you don't mind me answering your question. Have a look at this website from TFL which shows the locations of the bus stops at Shepherd's Bush.

When you open the link, maximise it to 100% otherwise the words are too small. Bus 207 stops at bus stops A, L and T. L is near the central line Stop and A is near the Hammersmith and City line station with t being in the middle.

Hope this helps.

I didn't mention the the 207/427/607 or the 95 as they only serve The Broadway and High Street part of Southall, which would mean taking another bus to the King Street area.

hi I know southall really well as I grew up in hayes.

southall is a long way on the bus from shepherds bush, the route may say so and so time but that uxbdrige road suffers long delays at times and you will be sat on that bus for ages.

if you do this get the 607 it is an express stop bus so will be quicker however it doesnt stop at many stops so make sure you get off when it does stop in southall or you may find yourself fast heading for the hayes by pass!

it is on the line from paddington and would most likely be the quickest way, you then have to walk down a straight road for about 10 mins or hop on a bus heading that way for a few stops.

like lots of places in the london area please be aware of your surroundings etc as southall can suffer with some problems.

having grown up in hayes it sure isnt what it was years aogo..then an average surburban area but thanks to dumped large amounts of asylum seekers it can be a bit of a danger and that spills out to other areas.

I get so upset seeing what the area has become these days :( but southall has lots of asian shops and is very busy!!

have fun!

Southall is fabulous, you'll love it. I always start of with a snack at Rita's Samosa Centre just because I like the name.

Thanks for the link to the Shepherd's Bush spider map. My hotel is near the Gloucester Rd. stop, so it looks like I could take the 95 to Shepherd's Bush, then get on the 207 up to Southall.

How far would it be from the Broadway and High section of Southall to King's Street? More than a few km?

Thanks to everyone for the advice!

Hi again CircusMM

It is the 295 that goes from Gloucester Road to Shepherds Bush where it terminates and then you can switch to the 207 (or one of the other buses going to Southall).

The Boardway/High Street is about a kilometre from King's Street. The link below will take you to a map of the area with the Boardway at the top and King St in the bottom Left:
