It's about an hour's drive so shouldn't be a problem on a day trip

Parking in Bath is difficult and traffic is bad. Leave your car at one of the Park & Rides on the outskirts. I would allow an extra half hour for parking, waiting for th bus (they come at around 15 minute intervals) and the bus trip into the city centre.

thank you for your reply. Is there enough to explore in bath over 2 days or is just a day trip enough? we were thinking of hiring a car considering we have a toddler with us.

Bath has more than enough to see and do to fill at least a couple of days but much will depend upon the age/ interests of your toddler. If you want to see the highlights - Roman Baths, Abbey, Royal Crescent, Circus, Pulteney Bridge etc. - then, with travelling and a break or two for some refreshment, it would be a long day. For me, the joy of Bath, is in wandering around the parks, and crescents but that might not float the boat of a restless toddler!

We spent two nights/one and one-half days in Bath and could have easily stayed another night. It is a lovely-lovely City with stunning architecture, historical monuments, parks, shopping, and pretty fantastic gastropubs.

While in Bath, do not miss free walking tours provided by the City volunteers (Sun-Fri 10.30 & 14.00, Sat 10.30 only). Tours last approximately two hours and no booking is necessary. Check out www.bathguides.org.uk for detailed information.
