Good Seafood restaurant?

Hi all,

My husband and I are coming to St Ives for the weekend in the middle of March and are looking for a nice seafood restaurant as a treat.

Does anyone have any suggestions? and when is the best time to go - lunch/dinner? Sat/Sun?

We are staying at Tregenna Caslte if that makes a difference.

Thanks

I agree with Lilly that Seafood Cafe is fabulous if you love seafood. Make sure you go for dinner rather than lunch though because if you want to try out all the lovely seafood on offer it can work out rather expensive for lunch. Of couse, there are other much cheaper options on the menu for lunch it is just if you want to choose your fish, potatoes and sauce and add vegetables that it becomes expensive so I would recommend doing that for dinner and having something off the lunch menu for lunch.

I highly recommend Ocean Grill too, whilst not a seafood restaurant as such, they do have a lot of seafood on their menu and you also get the spectacular harbour view. This is, without a doubt, my favourite restaurant in St Ives. The service is always friendly and the food is good value for money whilst always being excellent quality. They don't have a website for the restaurant.

The Mermaid Seafood Restuarant is good too but doesn't have the sea views. It is appropriately up Fish Street though - http://www.mermaidstives.co.uk/

Make sure you check out the restaurants link on Trip Advisor from the menu on the top left of this page as that will give you an insight into the restaurants in St Ives. I think Alfresco Cafe Bar and The Loft were up there at the top last time I looked and these are definitely on my "Must Eat There" list.

Eat Out Cornwall is also a great website to check out when you are planning a visit - http://www.eatoutcornwall.com/

It's always nice to have a good experience when you have forked out (pardon the pun) a hefty amount for a meal out.

Hope this isn't too much information.

You can't go far wrong with any (in no particualr order) of The Alfresco, The Mermaid, The Loft, or The Alba. But there are several nice others nice ones too. Have a look at stives-cornwall.co.uk/restaurants-st-ives.ht…

Tregenna Castle is a one mile walk from the town centre/harbour and has no restaurants nearby.

I'd personally go for The Mermaid on Fish Street every time.

Real specialists in seafood and great service.
