Newquay for a Stag weekend?

Hi Folks

I am looking for some help here and any feedback would be much appreciated.

I plan to have my Stag weekend in July 2013, and one of the destinations I was considering was Newquay. I have never been and I don’t think any of my party have either. I can fly directly into Newquay from Belfast so I thought I should at least consider it as an option.

I guess what I am trying to find out, is it suitable for a Stag? Ideally I am looking for a town that has a good atmosphere about it, busy at the weekend, good bars, beer gardens and maybe the odd nightclub.

It is important that the bars etc are within close proximity of each other. We don’t mind 5 minute walks from one bar to the next, however, I would prefer not to be getting alot of taxis from one place to the next. Would there be a main square or area where there exists several good bars and considered as a popular place?

Also, how welcome are Stags in that part of the world? I know some bars etc have issues with large groups. I expect my Stag party to be no more than 10 people.

In additional, is there anything going on in Newquay in July time, i.e., events or anything?

Thanks again for you help.

Stag parties are not welcome anywhere, except by bar owners (and not always by them): I believe from friends from that area that there has been a considerable local reaction against them.

Nothing to stop you turning up as surfers, however....Newquay is the surf capital of the UK. IF you can't surf, why not arrange for some lessons ?

Hi & welcome to the T/A forums We do get a lot of stag parties here & they do raise course for concern by locals & visitors alike.

The bars in the town are all within walking distance as are the night clubs.

Depending on where you will be staying. you may need to get a cab to the town.

Please see the link below for Ideas for things to do besides getting very drunk & causing a nusiience.

Hope you enjoy all the same.

Hello,

Your best bet might be to go through an event organisers as they'll know where's stag friendly and how to get your 10 person group to the best places! My friend organised his lads weekend away through StagWeb (see http://www.stagweb.co.uk/cityguide/newquay.asp), and I think there's a lot of groups having good fun down in Newquay so I wouldn't worry too much about not being welcomed, unless you're particularly rowdy. Just brief your friends beforehand to behave!

Have a great time :)

Hello,

Newquay is awesome for Stag parties, great athmosphere, bar, clubs, restaurants, more water activities than you can shake a stick at & beautiful coastal walks & lots more.

Check out Ocean Lodge Newquay, they are a specialist hotel and are the top place for stag groups to stay in Newquay, they can organise loads of activities, bar crawls for you too etc

Thousands of hen and stag parties visit Newquay every year and as such the town is very geared up towards catering for them.

There is a wide range of budget accommodation on offer that not only accept stag parties, but specialise in catering for them. There is also a wide range of adrenaline packed activities on offer including surfing, zorbing, coasteering and much much more. You can find a list of some of the best activities on offer here: www.sunnyside.co.uk/newquay-surfing-holidays/

Nightlife and alcohol consumption will always remain a big part of any stag weekend, and Newquay's nightlife is certainly up to the job, with lots of great bars and clubs on offer. Because Newquay is so popular with hen and stag parties, you're sure to bump into plenty of other parties dressed in fancy dress and looking to have a great time. That's not however to say that Newquay is accepting of drunk and disorderly behaviour. I work at a hotel in Newquay and we ask all groups to adhere to our 'groups policy' during our stay with us, to ensure that hen and stag parties not only have a great weekend with us, but they also have a safe and incident free weekend.

Lee, the OP was in October 2012. The only reason I can see for your reply now is a sneaky bit of advertising. Well done for your remarks on Newquay, just what we need. NOT

This thread seems to be full of advertising, I agree, there was no reason to resurrect it.

I agree. Especially as Newquay is changing (for the better imo).

There are definitely less groups than there has been and more families seem to be coming back! Good times for the town I hope ... (Also, since the original post in 2012, several bars and clubs have since closed down)
