Ideas close to Eden Project

We're taking my parents to the Eden Peoject on Saturday for the first time. Anyone got any ideas of other places to visit close by? We're driving down from Devon so only there for the full day.

Thanks!

Hi there

What sort of time will you turn up at Eden? You'll need a good few hours there assuming you see both the Biomes, the Core and spend time walking the miles of pathways outside.

Charlestown harbour isn't that far away, there's usually at least one of two square rigger ships in there being maintained. Mevagissey is 4 miles from St Austell, well worth a couple of hours.

Thank you for your replies, will look into all recommendations.

We're aiming to get to Eden Project for about 10am and allowing perhaps four hours or so of roaming around. Then hoping to go somewhere else for the remainder of the afternoon and perhaps some dinner before heading home.

You could visit Lanhydrock. It is a very interesting house (NT) with lovely gardens. There are several very good pubs nearby in Lostwithiel and Lanlivery if you decide to have dinner before going home..

The China Clay Museum at Wheal Martyn is only about five miles from the Eden Project, , and is well worth a visit.

Also the Lost Gardens of Heligan are only about 12 miles from the Eden Project and they have a very nice cafe/restaurant.... but you might be feeling "all gardened out" after Eden so maybe some fresh sea air at Charlestown or similar location would suit better.
