We are traveling to Lake Garda and staying at Bella Italia in Peschiera with our two children aged 3 and 5 next week for 11 nights. After researching books, the internet and asking questions on here, I have come up with a rough idea of where we want to go and what we want to do. Does this sound reasonable/sensible?
- Trip to Sirmione via bus. Mid week. Visit to Grotte di Catullo. Someone mentioned you could get a little train ride to here? Is this correct? How far is it from the town centre? Trip to Scaliger castle.
- Thermal park in Cola. Is the best way to get here from Bella Italia a taxi?
- Parco Giardino Sigurta - I think I read somewhere there is a bus here from Bella Italia? Have been recommended to go here on a weekend day when lakeside villages/towns will be at their busiest?
- Verona via train.
- Desenzano - I guess there will be a bus to this town?
These are the top places on my list. I also would love to take the cable car up to Mount Baldo, however I have read that it is crazily busy this time of year, and obviously quite a long trip to even get to Malcesine. Would we be mad to do this in the height of Summer with two little ones, or would we be mad to go to Lake Garda and miss this out?! I also really like the sound of Gardone Riveriera but I can't see that there is a boat that goes there from Peschiera and it looks like quite a long way round using roads? The botanical gardens sound amazing! Finally there is Venice. We have been there pre children and loved it. Again not sure if this would be a sensible trip with the children? Would it be viable to go mid avo and come back late evening when it would be a little cooler? I seem to remember children dining out with their parents quite late in Venice?
Obviously these day trips would be interspersed with rest days around Bella Italia and the lake itself.
I would really appreciate any feedback the experts can give me! Ideas of changes/places I've missed would be great.
Thank you so much in advance.
