want to participate in an organized snowmobile tour in the Valemount Area, British Columbia or even a little further inland from the Alberta / British Columbia border - McBride or Blue River. Have to rent snowmobiles. Would like to go for a weekend in Febuary, 2005. Have no experience in mountain snowmobiling so would have to be an easy to medium level degree of ability. Would also want to know the closest hotel or lodge for the overnight stay.

thanks

Hey..cool part of the world. In Blue River you have the Sandman Hotel and others as well as Mike Weigle Lodge, yeah that Mike from Heli-skiing fame. It looks awesome. There are a couple of other hotels in Valemount, and also McBride as well. These are small towns so don't expect too much.

The roads can be crazy in winter, so keep that in mind while driving between these areas. If I were you, I would also try to hit Jasper, Alberta, as you are only about 100-150km away if you stay in Valemount. Have fun, and watch out for the moose, esp. in and around McBride..:)

Will like to do a tour one of these days, not sure will have time this year,

how long does the season go and what is the cost for a tour.

Lets use as an example my son and I come down for Saturday and Sunday, I can get accomodations how much would the tour be with sleds and how much would the tour be without sleds. Pls note we do not do top of the materhorn stuff we like

trailing rather then going straight up. High elevation trails would be good.
