Thanks for that link scott. Sorry I re-invented the wheel there!
Tahoeheff- I ammended my comments about 50 later.
You have lots of options but with that budget will have to make some compromises. Is less crowd or important? Do you need to be close to amenities like a village or shops? I still agree with scott Heavenly will be a zoo. I am also not a big fan of how Heavenly has many crossovers trails between various parts of rhe the mountain. You have to go on these narrow bits for a long time. Also, the lifts are very very prone to high wind closure. If that happens, your only real option is to go to Sierra or just forgo the day. Happened to us too many times and thus we don't plab trips there anymore.
Since you have 5 nights, I say stay around Kings Beach and try out different resorts. Northstar, Squaw, Alpine Meadows, Sugar Bowl would be my suggestions. If the conditions are right, teeny tiny Homewood on the west side is AMAZING because the main trail has jaw dropping lakeviews. You have to check and go early because lots of people wait for right conditions to go there, me included.
My Baltimore connection... hubby did his masters at UMBC and lived in Catonsville. I visited often but this was before the Ravens stadium.
