Best boat trip?

Want to see emerald bay, but don't want lunch or dinner. Best boat for afternoon or sunset?

Take the trip from Zephyr Cove on the MS Dixie 2 to Emerald Bay and back. It's two hours and you don't need to buy lunch, though they sell beverages and snacks on board. Lots of room to roam around on the decks and take photos.

Lots of different cruises besides the Dixie however it is a good one.

The Bleu Wave yacht does a wonderful afternoon cruise. They also do a sunset cruise that includes light apps and drinks. Similar to that of the Safari Rose, an sunset cruise that includes apps and drinks.

Not for everyone, but our best trip to Emerald Bay was when we rented our own boat. We tried to waterski and wakeboard too but it was too cold to do it for long.

We did the same thing. Rented a 1/2 day power boat at Tahoe Keys. Tied up at the dock in Emerald Bay and walked around Vikingsholm Castle for awhile. Then cruised over to Sunnyside for lunch. There were four of us so while the rental boat was more than the Tahoe Queen it was still worth it. Probably our favorite activity during our stay. Nothing beats getting out on the lake.

I agree John. We were staying at Tahoe Keys with a docks. The older folks loved getting picked up at the house!

Some years we rent speed boats, but we also like to rent a Pontoon boat to go over to Emerald Bay and picnic at the beach there. Comfortable if there are 4-6 of you.

Capt Troy our private boat captain took is in Emerald Bay and allowed us to get off the boat to walk around the Vikingsholm estate & the Island. You could charter a boat as well. It's like renting, but with a captain. There's a great one listed on TripAdvisor's activities list for South Lake Tahoe. Then the captain can drop you off at the dock in Emerald Bay and even on the island safely.
