Reno - Lake Tahoe - Yosemite

We will be driving from Reno to Lake Tahoe to Yosemite. We have only been to South Lake Tahoe in the winter for skiing. (stayed at Marriott Grand). We are traveling with another family from Europe. We are only spending 2 nights in LT. Do you suggest we stay in the northern or southern part of Lake Tahoe, keeping in mind our final destination is Yosemite?

I think I read on previous posts that in reality there is not much difference in traveling time between the two? Is that correct?

Thanks for your insight,

Stephanie

We stay in Incline Village, NV on the north shore, at the Hyatt. It's a gorgeous area. It's the only resort with lodging on the lake, plus it has a casino. We fly into Reno also and it's an easy 45 minute drive over the MT.Rose Hwy to IV. Lots of restaurants in walking distance, wonderful Spa and pools and a water activity desk at the lake where you can rent kayaks or boats or take a catamaran ride.

No, there is not a lot of difference in time driving south toward Yosemite. Head around the lake on route 28 to Hwy 50 back down the 395. Have fun.

Have you checked places to see on your way like Virginia City NV and Bodie and Mono Lake on the way to Yosemite?
