Any stops along Route 50 between SLT and Sacramento?

After our stay in South Lake Tahoe in early June, we will be driving to Sacramento for a wedding, which google tells me is about 2 hours via Route 50. Are there any scenic spots to stop along the way, maybe for a picnic lunch, a short hike or anything else? We'll be traveling with a 4 year old. Thanks!

Bridalveil Falls is a nice stop on 50 about 42 miles from SLT just before you get to Pollock Pines. There's a nice picnic area next to the river (fee area). There's also some nice wineries and historic sites near Placerville but probably not so much fun with a 4 yr old.

Most people just make the non-stop drive to Sacramento.

Near Yosemite...

You will pass by the historic Strawberry Lodge. It is interesting to walk around and look at the old displays and perhaps get something to eat. Another popular spot is at Fresh Pond. It is basically a large quick stop for food and fuel, but they have a hill with picnic tables so your 4 years might be able to get out and run around. Also, just before you get to Placerville is called apple hill. There are places to stop with play areas fresh baked goods, etc. ..... even during June.

Most people just make the drive. It is not that long of a trip.
