Accomodation options for single/solo traveller

Hi All,

I'm starting to plan a trip for a week's skiing before or after a work conference in Las Vegas. From my reading so far it looks like Sth Lake Tahoe will be a good base and convenient to get to from LV. I have searched these forums to see if anyone has advice on accomodation options for a solo visitor - reasonably priced single hotel room or similar. Any recommendations?

Actually north Lake Tahoe is closest to the Reno airport if you are flying to or from Vegas, and is a good base for skiing. You can search Tahoe hotels from the left side of this page. There is usually no advantage of being a single traveler as opposed to being a couple. Hotels usually charge the same.

There are 12 ski resorts on the north side of the lake & 3 on the south side. If you will be going to the south side and you want to be near the Heavenly gondola and close to casinos and other amenities you might want to post a budget. Here a few places to look at where you can walk to the gondola, casinos, dining and grocery:

Park Tahoe,

Three Peaks

Best Western Station House

Paradice

Stardust

Thanks Suzie & Social Sec,

I like the look of Basecamp - about $100/night and more my style I think. I stayed in ryokan accom when skiing in Japan earlier this year. Like things that are a little bit different. Thoughts?

This is the former Block Hotel on Cedar. Used to be complete dump but the new owners have come up with a new concept in lodging and refurbished it. It's in a pretty convenient location to skiing and the casinos. Don't know much more about it but there are some impressive reviews here in TA.

May I recommend the Alpenrose Inn (530) 544-2985.

Close to (walking) to Heavenly Gondola and Hanna, the owner is an absolute delight. (GREAT TripAdvisor reviews as well)
