Hi, is it advisable to buy tickets for MS Dixie Cruise to Emerald Bay before? We will be visiting 2nd week of September?
Thanks.

Probably not be necessary. I was on the lake a couple of weeks ago over a several day period and watched the paddlewheelers go by. Even in the summer they were not all that crowded. By September ther will be even fewer people.
We did not buy our tickets in advance, but did phone while we were there to reserve them for the lunch cruise.
The MS Dixie is large enough for everyone to spread out on the different decks, and has a dining room inside where we ate our lunch. It is buffet style so you can make your plate at anytime. There were people inside when we were watching the 20 min. video of facts of the lake, so not everyone is outside on the top deck at the same time.
Thanks!
We will also be there the second week of Sept, the 11-18th. what is the MS Dixie Cruise? How much is it? we do not know any of the "Must Do's" so thanks for any advice you have.
John
Ms. Dixie is a boat that takes you out on Lake Tahoe. For part of there is also a narrative. There are various options such as a lunch option, Sunday brunch, etc. For best views of Lake Tahoe, of course, the daylight cruise is best.
For pricing, schedules, etc. best to check their web site at:

My friends and I have done it and it was a good way to see the Lake - as much of the lake (especially in South Lake Tahoe area) is built out. With the boat, you are on the water and you get unobstructed views - as well as they tell you a little bit about the lake.
There are some other boats that do this as well.
The MS Dixie is one of many lake cruises offered to see the lake, parts of which are not easily accesible to cars.
Here are a couple of other types:
