My family is planning to go to Tahoe mid July this year. We are planning on renting a house since there will be about 8 or so of us. I am having a hard time searching for a place not knowing what would be a good location. Looking to be lazy on a beach, water sports and might bring our boat. I know the casinos will be visited. Suggestions on North or South? Cities?

Oh July my favorite month in Tahoe or is it Sept? No matter. We rent a place on the west side in Homewood or Tahoma. We use enjoytahoe.com. Ww visit the beach at Meeks Bay, DL Bliss as well as Chambers. We hike, swim & boat. Visit Sand Harbor one day. Visit Squaw Valley one day and spend the day at high camp. In South Lake Tahoe visit Zephyr Cove.
July is a great time to visit Lake Tahoe. We've been visiting there for dozens of years. We like Incline Village on the north shore, NV side. If you bring your boat there is a place to launch it. Sand Harbor is two miles away, and SLT an easy 25 minute drive.
There is a casino at the Hyatt in Incline as well. In summer there is a Shakespeare Festival at Sand Harbor.

Tahoe is a great place to visit during summer, if you are going to have a boat you either need a lakefront house with a dock or a house in Tahoe Donner as you get access to the private beach on Donner Lake.

If you decide to bring your boat to Lake Tahoe you will have to have the boat inspected before you can launch it. There are plenty of places to launch your boat for day use:
