1 week itinerary in Ontario & Quebec

Hiya. Help please. My wife & I are flying into & out of Toronto in early June and want to see as much as possible without spending the entire 7 days in a car or train. We have been to Toronto & Niagara before so would miss it out this time. Air tickets are already booked and logistics necessitated it be Toronto entry & exit. We are UK based.

Our initial thoughts cover Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City ??? We've heard Montreal is not "car friendly" so thought Toronto - Montreal by VIA may be best. We like cities and exceptional scenery and have travelled extensively in W. Canada. Any thoughts, suggestions, likes/dislikes would be greatly appreciated. We are relaxed on the cost and budget.

Bill.

The bus Québec - Montréal is the more convenient. It runs almost every hour, safe, clean, not too expensive. You don't need a ticket in advance just be at the ticket counter about 15 to 20 min. before departure, or you can buy the ticket in advance by internet but you have to print it. Anyway there is always room on the bus except in very rare situations (like new year for example). https://www.orleansexpress.com/Search.aspx

The train is more confortable but few departures per day and more expensive

For Québec lodging, you should stay in the old town either the lower or upper part. Both have their charm and are very secure. The lower town is where the bus and train station is; it is close to the St Lawrence river and the antique dealers too. The upper part is near the Chateau Frontenac with lots of boutiques and near Grande Allée where the nightlife is. Both sections are close as you walk up and down, and both have great restaurants.
