Good BYOB Restaurants for a group of 16

Hi

Can anybody suggest a good bring your own bottle restaurant for a group of about 16 (this includes 2 children)? We are looking for a restaurant in either NDG, Downtown or the West Island - and are open to different types of cuisine. If there's a parking lot, that's a plus.

We will be paying for the whole party and are looking to find something good but at the same time affordable, about $ 25 a head.

Thanks to all those who reply!

Try l'Académie, they are used to such large crowds and beside the original location in the Plateau there is also one outlet downtown but then free parking it won't be!

Hi Rick!

Thank you for your suggestion for L'Academie Restaurant.

I had checked into that restaurant (the one in Pointe Claire) but was concerned about the fact that some people suggested the service was very slow.

If there is anybody who has tried L'Academie in Pointe Claire, please let me know what you thought of the service.

We are also looking into Mezzamis and Restaurant Oggi, both again in the West Island area - if anybody has some first hand experience with one of these restaurants, please let me know.

Thanks again.

I'll put in another vote for L'academie because it is used to working large crowds and the Academie in Pointe-Claire is only 5 months old, so it is really nice. As for slow service, it depends on the location and the time of day. It certainly isn't a good idea to go on a 1 hr lunch break, as many people do in Pointe-Claire.

Oggi gets mixed reviews. For example, my mother likes it, but my friend hated it. I never went.

Porte Grecque is somewhat small but could maybe accommodate you if you reserve. I like it personally, especially their moussaka.

Peche Peche is used to large groups but can be quite expensive so watch out.

Chef Akbar is a great indian alternative. I've never went but heard great reviews. http://restomontreal.ca/en/3166/Chef-Akbar

Steak Frites has no trouble accommodating large groups and offers a menu that will please everyone.

Hello Jessdub.

Welcome on board on the Montreal forums!

But if you want to reply to some queries you should first check the date of the original posting and of the last reply. If the query has been dormant for a while, like this one then it it is always advisable to think twice about posting a new reply as it might not be required anymore. This particular thread mention no dates for the party but since the original poster is from Montreal we can assume that this party is already a thing of the past.. The problem is not only that it reactivate something that could bring some confusion on the forums but also because the OP will be noticed that he/she has new replies for something that is not needed anymore.

But one just learn by practcing so for a start try to reply to more recent queries. We need new views on the Mtl forums so we certainly all appreciate your help but just be a bit careful to start. Thanks and welcome again!
