Outdoor Wedding Locations |
|
Hi, My DF and I want to get married in a tent. No we are not campers. :) We want to steer away from the reception hall wedding style and were thinking of renting a large tent and having it outdoors and possibly by the water. Does anyone have any suggestions as to a location where this can be done (Our backyard is way too small!) Is there public areas which can be rented near a lake or river where we could host our wedding? Any help is appreciated. Thanks, MontrealKid |

Congratulations! A co-worker of mine got married outside by the water at Le Vieux Kitzbuhel in Ile Perrot this summer and it was absolutely beautiful: http://www.vieuxkitz.com/home_en.htm There's also Le Chateau Vaudreuil, but it gets mixed reviews.

Congratulations! I am in the same boat as you! We are also looking for an outdoor reception. I heard of Chateau St. Antoine which is about 30 min outside of Montreal but I heard its beautiful.

Hopefully more people will post ideas! I still have not found what I had in mind. Thanks for the post and good luck!

Hi MontrealKid, I would start by checking out some of the many marinas around the City of Montreal (the west island has a dozen or so, and I know there are a couple on the South Shore - like Chambly, and also in Laval). You could then have your wedding & reception in a tent and still have the benefit of some good catering, no problem with drinking permits, parking or bathroom facilities. There are also some parks along these same waterfront areas... but I'm not sure as to all the hoops and red tape you'd encounter in regards to holding a wedding on public land vs private. I suppose you could always find a couple of parks you like and call the City for further info. Cheers! Wine-4-2

Hélène de Champlain on Ile Ste-Helene.

Here's another idea: Auberge des Gallant. It's a beautiful setting with a lake on the premises. Not far from the city, just past St. Lazare.

Much easier to get to and particularly from Hélène de Champlain then from the Auberge des Gallant, unless your guests plan on overnighting there or live in the area. I was thinking here of partying, people like myself who believe a wedding should be cheered with a couple of drinks and great wine. At Hélène de Champlain, it's easier and cheaper to taxi back to Montreal.

I believe it's always nice to have different options when trying to make an informed decision :)

FYI on Hélène de Champlain, just found out today they're closing down in December 2009.

If good food is important to you, steer clear of Helene de Champlain. Auberge des Galants is a great setting, so is Vieux Kitz & both have very good food with the edge going to AdesG. I love the setting for Chateau Vaudreuil but the food is just so-so.
