Point Pelee National Park is about an hour from Windsor. You can hike, bird watch, relax on the beach.

Thanks , Point Pelee sounds like a relaxing day. I will visit on Monday. If you have some simple driving instructions from the Casino that would help also. Not familiar with the area at all. Thanks

Depending on your time limits, you may want to get to Point Pelee by driving around the county through Amherstburg. A lot of interesting historical sites in the city, including Fort Malden.

Whatever your route, bring TONS of bug spray for the Point. It has been a very wet year and the mosquitoes are out in record droves!

Canadian Club Distillery tour in Walkersville is a fun tour with free tasting after the tour.

It is about a 5 minute trip from the casino.

Amhertsville is also a nice trip along the water on your way to Pointe Pelle, or take the wine tour....great scenery and great wine. Most tastings are free at the wineries.

Don't try looking up Amherstville (LOL), just a type by the the previous poster I am sure. Also, most of the wineries now charge for their tastings. About 4.00 or 5.00 per flight.

You might want to drive along Lake Erie on Heritage Rd - Seacliff Dr to Leamington...lots of scenery & farms along the way.

Thanks for all the good ideas. The bugs do seem to be a problem this year though.

No bugs at this time of year. Maybe the odd one but it should be fine.

If you have more time you can always catch the ferry from Kingsville which is very close to Point Pelee and go across to Pelee Island. The crossing is 90 minutes each way but if time permits you can always check out the island which is very nice place to visit. There are many boardwalks, beaches and a winery on the island. It's a well known spot for avid birdwatchers as many birds use this on their migration route. They will fly to Pelee Island and rest before heading across Lake Erie.

By the way, Pelee Island is the southern most point in all of Canada. There is a ferry weblink below.
