Hi everyone!

During my stay in Toronto, I would like to have dinner at some "must go" restaurants there.

Money is not a problem, but I think that it doesnt have to be expensive to be a good restaurant, and I would like restaurants with a fine view of the city (or at least some part of it!!!)

Can you advise me on that issue?

What would be your top 5?

Thanks in advance!

Canoe. It's on the 54th floor of the TD tower. Much better than the restaurant at the CN Tower.

Canoe is a fantastic restaurant with a great view and a focus on seasonal Canadian ingredients. Menu here: http://www.oliverbonacini.com/canoemovie.html

Another one in the same league is Scaramouche, which also has a view, also lovely, though slightly less dramatic. Scaramouche is located on a hill, and its windows overlook downtown Toronto from the north. Best to ask for a table by the window when you reserve. Menu here: www.scaramoucherestaurant.com/menu.html

(And if anyone here mentions the 360 on the CN Tower, just move on. The food's just OK, but not in the same league as these two. You pay a premium for the view.)

Other must-go "money's not a problem" restaurants, without a spectacular view: Susur (run by celebrity chef Susur Lee), Splendido, Perigee. Menus via Google.

And of course Toronto has dozens of fantastic ethnic restaurants, ranging from tiny holes-in-the-wall to some of the best Chinese in North America.

Hi Tuga.

Great suggestions from Urban and Estra. Here is another restaurant to consider.

Good luck.

Well, if money is not a problem, then you have to check out the CN Tower. Go there for dinner, and you don't need to pay for admission, just make your reservation.

The dinner is not that bad. I went there for lunch twice, loved it both time.

The restuarant is 360 revolving, and nothing beats the view :P

Go there during sunset, and you can view day and nite ;)

If you choose to go to the CN Tower go about 1 hour - 45 minutes before sunset then you will get to see an amazing sunset and you'll get the evening view.

The food is quite good and the experience is one that you will remember for a long time

Ha! Go to Canoe, get the same sunset as you do at the 360, and FAR better food.

I've never been to Canoe, so can't comment on the food. But for view, come on, no building can beat the CN Tower. To me, Canoe building is not high enough. CN Tower is perfect, it gets to view everything. Besides, it is 360 revolving, so the scenery changes while you are eating. And I find CN Tower's food is excellent.

I've been to both, CN tour and Canoe. To me, both different experiences. No one put the napkin back on my lap or pulled out my seat when I returned from the ladies room at the CN tour, however they did at Canoe. :))

If you can, do both.

For our UK friends, even though CN Tower dinner is expensive, but, really, it's not THAT expensive for you guys. I don't drink wine and I order the prix fixe price menu, and the bill is around $80CAD after tips and tax, that's about $35 pounds. That's not that bad, you got free admission, the view and dinner. I have had simple dinner in London that costed me about 20 pounds.
