A little train help

We're taking Rail Canada from Toronto to Montreal and back. Need a recommendation of where to stay in Toronto, near the station, but nice. Also, is it the St. George Station? Your recommendation will be a great help. Thanks.

Royal York is right across the street. Nice hotel (large hotel though 1400 rooms)

If you want something smaller but historical try the King Edward Hotel. 5 minute walk or very short cab ride.

The train station is called Union Station

Just for clarification, that's the Fairmont Royal York across the street from Union Station.

Other hotels in the vicinity include Renaissance Hotel at Skydome and the Intercontinental Toronto Centre (used to be Crowne Plaza, then it had an upgrade).

You might find the city's website www.torontotourism.com helpful.

The train station in both cities is right in town, so you'll find it very convenient.

St. George is a subway station, up on Bloor Street.

For something cheaper, the Hotel Victoria on Yonge Street is a short walk from Union Station, but less expensive than most hotels in the area.

I recommend the Royal York, though.

Another thought, you can pick what hotel you like downtown/theatre district... Cabs are EVERYWHERE, and at the Train Station definately. So getting to where you need to go isn't a problem. The subway system is quite easy to learn once your settled. We like the Sheraton Centre or the Holiday Inn on king. Sheraton Centre is right in the middle of everything, the holiday inn is great too. Just depends where you think you will be going and doing etc etc. GOOD LUCK!
