italian restaurants near Residence Inn Downtown/Entert Distr |
|
Hi, I´ll be 3 days at the Residence Inn Toronto Downtown/Entertainment District Hotel Could you please suggest Italian restaurants not very expensive r other type near this area or accesible by underground? Thanks |
|
Not too much of note in that area, as it is mostly touristy, chain restaurants. Can't think of any Italian I'd recommend in that area, but if you go west to Spadina there are some good places. Le Gourmand is a good, French style pastry and coffe place that also serves pressed sandwiches (www.legourmand.com) You'll find it difficult to find a good cafe-con-leche here in town, you have to go in search of it. There's also a decent French Bistro called Jules just across the street from it on Spadina (http://www.dine.to/jules) Further up Spadina and north of Dundas into Chinatown is Swatow (http://www.blogto.com/restaurants/swatow ) a really good, cheap Chinese restaurant. Hope this helps.

Sorry, there is Terroni (Romano style pizza) west of Yonge st. on Adelaide or another location on Queen St. West (www.terroni.ca) Or my favourite Czech restaurant on Queen west. (www.theprague.ca)

Thanks Urbanfoodie, I am checking out all the links you posted

There's a very decent pizza place around the corner from your hotel, at Blue Jays Way and Wellington, called Pizza Rustica. Not as good as Terroni, but a very similar menu and a little cheaper. Also, more expensive but really good: Tutti Matti, at Adelaide and Peter: www.tuttimatti.ca. This is the real deal - Tuscan cuisine, homemade pasta, great wines by the glass. Otherwise, I agree with Urbanfoodie - most of the restaurants in the entertainment district are tourist traps.
