Hi, I'll be riding my motorcycle with a friend from Texas to London Ontario for the Canadian National HOG Rally. We've never been to the area, but we are planning on spending the night in Thunder Bay.

I'm looking for input from locals, mainly about the road conditions and temperatures. We can normally ride 500 to 600 miles a day without a problem, but I'm wondering what the roads will be like.

My main concern is the ride from Thunder Bay to Sault Ste Marie. We are planning to ride that in one day. Does anyone have any insight as to whether or not that should be possible? I know we need to watch out for Moose and wildlife, we are concerned about that and will be very careful. When does it get dark? We're hoping to make the ride in around 11 hours or so. Any info. will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Maggie

the sun rises at about 6am and sets around 9pm, I would plan on being off the road by 9pm if don't want to ride in the dark.

Thunder Bay to Sault Ste. Marie is approx. 445 miles so it is certainly doable if you normally ride 500 to 600. The temperatures for the past two days have been 23 & 25 celcius with scattered showers. The Lake Superior Route has some beautiful scenery so hopefully you brought a camera.
