Crossing The Border

Can you bring alcoholic beverages into Canada when driving from the U.S? What would be the procedure be if we brought a small cooler of beer? Would it have to be claimed?

I might be completely wrong, but I think liquor and beer are more expensive in Ontario (due to higher taxes and very little privitization) than wine.

All alcohol is more expensive than what you'll find south of the border, so if you want a bottle or two of wine to drink in your hotel room it makes sense to bring it with you. Also saves you a trip to the LCBO (since you can't buy wine just anywhere).

You're also entitled to shop at the Duty Free store before crossing the border. This is best for hard liquor, as the beer and wine selection isn't great.
