Need help with hotel decision

Hi-will be traveling thru NY in July of 2006 with a final destination of the Falls, Canada side. After much research I've narrowed our hotel choices down to the Courtyard, Comfort Inn Clifton Hill and Quality Inn Clifton Hill. The Quality Inn and Comfort Inn are pretty close in price, the Courtyard is about $20 more, plus I think you have to pay for parking there. All 3 hotels are rated well on this site-can anybody tell me if one is better than the others? Are they all pretty equal as far as location? It will be myself, my husband and our 2 daughters, ages 9 and 11. We've never been there before and there are so many hotels that it's been hard to decide-price, pool and location are main factors. Thanks in advance for any advice.

I may be off on the parking rate although I must have read that somewhere. I thought I saw it on their website but maybe it was in another forum. $8 is better but free sounds even better!

Thanks to everybody for the advice so far.

Some of the bigger Hotels ONLY offer valet parking....meaning you have to call down and wait for your car to be delivered....At least you can come and go as you please...I will only stay at a hotel where we can self park.

traceylynne-I agreee with you on that! Luckily, I don't think we can afford any of the hotels that offer only valet! Seriously, out of the Courtyard, Quality, Comfort and Travelodge-are they all pretty much within walking distance of the falls, restaurants, shops etc? I've never been to the Falls but it sounds alot like Wisconsin Dells and I think we'd rather park the car and avoid driving as much as possible, especially since we'll be there in July. We don't really have anything definite in mind to do besides see the Falls and do the Maid of the Mist.

All of those hotels are ideally located within walking distance (about a block) to the falls and shops/attractions. I personally would recommend the Courtyard by Marriott, but all of the ones you list are quite nice and get mostly good reviews on here. The Courtyard is fairly new (built in 2000) and has free parking. It has both an indoor and outdoor pool. I think that your family would enjoy staying at the Courtyard by Marriott. I hope that you have a good time =:)

Let me correct myself-the parking at the Courtyard by Marriott is not free (unfortunately), but I believe that it costs $8/day.

I'm also traveling to Niagara Falls with my wife and 7 year old son. I have a few more than two on my list of hopefuls and I'm interested in any help from anyone who has stayed at any of them. I'm always leary about how hey appear online and then how they really are in person. Any help would be greatly appreciated. My wife is a stickler for cleanliness, so that is a must.

Thanks,

From the Courtyard, its a long 2 blocks down to the falls-and uphill back to the hotel. At the bottom of the hill you are in front of the American Falls, and Casino Niagara. However for a closer view of the Horseshoe Falls, it requires another walk along the Niagara Parkway. If you stay at the Courtyard and get the package deal, you get complimentary shuttle service to the casinos and falls area.

Ok, did some more checking. I think I've narrowed it down to the Comfort Inn and the Courtyard. We've always had very positive results with Courtyard. Traceylynne-is the walk bad as i(j?)mat says? (Sorry, can't tell if it's an i or j!!) Am I correct in thinking we are going to want to ditch the car as soon as we get there and walk rather than fight traffic? Also, Tracey you say the breakfast is great-is that included or extra? My main inclination in going with the Courtyard is the queen beds as opposed to the doubles in the other hotels, plus the indoor and outdoor pools. If we don't do a package, does anybody know what the shuttle will run us from the Courtyard? I could call them but it's much more fun hearing from all of you!

Thanks!
