Recreational Boating

Hello all,

Can anyone recommend some smaller lakes for recreational boating (tubing, skiing) around London? I would like to avoid the great lakes if possible. There are many small lakes in the Guelph area; just looking for something similar in London.

Thanks,

Rob

Fanshawe Lake might be exactly what you're looking for. Google it and see if it fits your needs.

Not much else nearby. The closest I can think of is Conestogo Lake. It's Y-shaped and each arm is 6 kms long. I'm assuming this lake definitely fits the bill, however, Conestogo is about 154 km from London (up towards Kitchener) and would take you about 1 hour and 45 minutes to get there. It's doable if you plan on making a full day of it. Check out websites.....check both direction websites....there are two different routes you can take. Do which one you think is better.

What about Pinery Park, they offer boat rentals, its off lake Huron, about an hour drive away.

You can't water ski on Fanshawe, It's a sailing and rowing lake.

I think your best bet would be Wildwood just outside of London near St Mary's. Wildwood Conservation Area is located 11 km west of the City of Stratford, and 7 km east of from the Town of St. Marys

It's located on Highway 7, between Stratford and Highway 119

Pinery wouldn't be good because the poster was trying to avoid the Great Lakes .

Wildwood looks like a winner! Thank you!

I also plan to visit Conestogo but Wildwood is much more accessible for me.
