How you could visit a Native Reserve in Ontario, Canada

I want to get in touch with a Native reserve that can teach of their culture and spiritual connection with nature. I´m really intrested about indigenious people and their relation to the nature. I been meeting different tribes around south amerika and also been to northern scandinavia wich has the last indigenious people in Europe.

I was entering some homepage sites like Seven Nations reserve and saw their trailer. I felt like it was very based on gambling (Casino and Bingo) and didn´t give me a feeling of spirituality at all. The reason I want to go to a native reserve is to learn about their traditionall way at looking at things. Life and spirituality of ypu understand me.

I would really appreciate all the help I could get!

Many reserves welcome visitors to their communities and some do not. It is always advisable to contact them in advance (usually through the Band Counci office) to see if they offer programs, etc. for visitors. Please remember you cannot just show up at a reserve - it is their land and their home.

The Six Nations Reserve (Brantford area) has a cultural centre and historic sites.

The Curve Lake First Nation (Peterborough area) also has a cultural centre

Alderville First Nation (Cobourg/Rice Lake area)

You might also contact the Native Canadian Centre of Toronto to see if they can provide assistance
