Horseshoe Inn During Summer

We are planing to visit this resort for a week in mid-June. Does anybody know what activities one can have with a teenager son? I know that they have a jogging path in the golf course, which is really great for this cross country runner. We are not into golf so we are loking at what other activities we can have here (or for that matter nearby places) at this time. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Assuming you have a car if out there, Wasaga beach is a quick drive and other then the beach there are shops and a waterpark, not sure when it opens for summer.

also Collingwood isn't far, there is Blue Mountain with activities, the gondola should be running by then and the views are great if it's a clear day.

mountain biking is popular at horseshoe and in the area.Agree that Wasaga beach is close..also a really nice beach in Barrie( 10 minutes) with beach volleyball courts - the teens love this.. and a fair size mall for shopping. Downtown Barrie also has some interesting shops. Boat tour in Barrie on Lake Simcoe is interesting..if you want to be a little more adverturous head to Parry sound for the 30,000 island boat tour...lasts 3 hours and only an hour drive away from Horseshoe. Toronto is only an hour away and provides endless possibilities - CN Tower, Science Centre, Toronto Zoo - all would be very enjoyable for teens. We live 5 minutes from Horseshoe Resort..so if we can be of anymore help let us know. Enjoy

Thank you "barriemeansbusiness" for all the tips which really made our trip very enjoyable.

At Horseshoe, we loved running trails, Treetop Trekking's Basic and Intemediate courses (available at half price pending opening of Advance course). Scenery was breathtaking. Note for vegetarians: skip the both the restaurants in the resort and make a 5 minute drive to the nearest grocery store which looks small but has very good choices.

Barrie had a nice mall and the beach. Good for spending a couple of hours.

Wasaga beach was small but wonderful (no boardwalk, very clean, couple of on-the-beach-shops) and so were Natural Caves (unguided tours to caves and suspension bridge; no handicapped access as the visitors have to trek their way through lots of stairs, slopes and stones). We covered both in one day (first to Caves and then to beach).

For a first time Canada visitor, I must admit, I found the people amazingly helpful. Thank you and please keep the good work going.

Glad you enjoyed your trip..Barrie is great and seems still a well kept secret even from some area people. My husband was in a ball tourney this weekend and they were playing a team from Burlington...only a little over an hour from Barrie. As we were describing some possible spots to go for dinner to the other team,we told them to follow Bayfield St ( Barries main drag) down to the water...the reply was" Water, theres a lake in Barrie." They wee stunned at the beauty and expanse of the waterfront...glad you had an opportunity to enjoy!
