Let me begin by thanking all who have posted, giving opinions and advice to fellow Nova Scotia travelers. This forum is lively and is a wonderful resource for those who like to plan vacations. I've learned much by reading past posts and appreciate those who have taken the time to provide information.
I've got my 2007 Doers and Dreams and it has a wealth of information. It can't, however, help me plan or, perhaps more accurately, make up my mind. So I'm hoping someone will be kind enough to offer me some advice.
We'll be arriving 7/16. My intention is to spend a couple of days in the Bra D'or area, then 3 days on the Cabot Trail, arriving in Antigonish for the Highland Festival on 7/21. We'd like to do a bird tour at Bra D'or Lake and a whale watch during this phase of our trip. Those plans, while not set in concrete, are fairly well set (I have reservations, but this far in advance could of course cancel).
It's after the festival that I feel that I'm going to run out of time. I need to start my trip home on 7/27, and am interested in seeing Halifax, Peggy's Cove, Lunenberg, perhaps Digby. I'd like to spend the last night somewhere near Amherst, and wondered if the Cape Chignecto area is as interesting as it seems.
My thought was to spend 2 days in Halifax, then perhaps a day in Digby, one in Wolfville, and the last somewhere around Cape Chignecto. I'd appreciate any critique of the plan, and advice about lodging and activities.
We enjoy nature (what's Kejimkujik like?), moderate hikes/walks, the ocean, music, history, food, all the good things that Nova Scotia has to offer. As for lodging, I tend to look for value (my mother was born in Scotland), but I don't mind paying more for something special occasionally - is that helpful?
