Whistler w/o 6.18?

I'm considering Whistler for family trip in June. Was there in '02 and loved it, but concerned about construction. Will be driving from Vancover/flying from Boston.

Any insights on hotels/apts to avoid?

Any insights on 'must-stay/must-do'?

Thanks in advance,

New Westminster...

Anyone concerned about construction will certainly have to turn a "blind eye" on the way UP to Whistler, as the highway is in the midst of a major (pre-Olympic) upgrade. Delays are minimal, but there are more than a few stretches where your travel time will be impacted somewhat. Some sections are already complete but there's plenty of work still to be done over the next couple of years.

As far as construction in Whistler itself goes...although Olympic venue construction is not happening in the Village itself (on-mountain & outside of the main Resort area, mostly) the two main construction projects underway (which - if you're staying within proximity of either - could have a bit of a "noise factor" associated) would be the new library (Village North) and the First Nations Native Cultural Centre (Upper Village). I would suggest CALLING any hotels you are considering (before booking online) and asking them directly about any projects that may be ongoing in the vicinity. It's a valid concern & most people wouldn't THINK to ask before booking.

Regarding "must-do's" in June...I'd suggest either rafting or zip-lining (...neither are weather-dependant, but if you pick are great day when the sun is out it certainly adds to the enjoyment!)
