3 day itinerary??

Never been to the Island and will spend 3 days in Victoria. Would love a 3 day itinerary suggestions (we will have spent 5 days previous in Tofino) --- would love maybe two full day trips and then might spend one day in Victoria proper. We're thinking of the Cowichan Valley? Would especially like to visit small unique towns, see some lovely landscape, maybe visit a winery or two...sample some local fare at some restaurants...not sure if it's worth the day trip to Saltspring or if we should do something else?? All suggestions would be most welcome - not sure we'll be able to get back so want to make the most of our time! Many thanks.

Buchart Gardens is world class, lunch in Brentwood Bay nearby - Seahorses by the Marina. Floatplane trip from Downtown Victoria, museum is excellent, Fisherman's wharf is great fun with a buzz and can be reached by water taxi or walking from the inner harbour. Pagliacci's downtown is great for bistro style lunch downtown.

Short trip from downtown by bus to Oakbay - a very cute area with attractive coastal walking nearby , lunch at newly refurbished Oakbay Hotel worth considering. Saltspring great on Saturdays as artisan market is well worth visit ..... Sidney en route to Ferry terminal also nice small town with waterfrontage and attractive town centre ........

Just a few ideas from a regular visitor from London........ :-)

canchick - I was just reading the post a bit further up about the Gulf Islands in photos and the OP added a full trip report which is detailed. You might find this very helpful as you consider where you might go for a day trip. It can be a bit cumbersome with the ferries, but if you plan it right ahead of time and schedule which ferries you need to be on, its quite doable as a day trip.

A day trip up as far as Parksville, including Cathedral Grove, and all the point of interest along the way could make for a 4 hour drive up and a faster drive back down.

Goldstream Provincial Park

Kinsol Trestle

Chemainus

Duncan

Nanaimo

North Island Wildlife Recovery Centre

Cathedral Grove

Coombs,

Cameron Lake

Parksville

Crow and Gate Pub

Dinghy Dock Pub on Protection Island

Thanks! So far here's the plan...arrive Saturday afternoon and get to Butchart for fireworks etc. Then on Sunday, tour Victoria and Oak Bay areas..Monday do the Brentwood to Mill Bay Ferry and continue on to Qualicum Beach with stops at Ladysmith, Nanaimo, Parksville. Last day we have until 8pm so want to see Sidney area before flying out...We want to "fill in the gaps" to get as much sightseeing as possible..what are we missing, what should we see, what should we eliminate or add? Thanks!!

Be sure to visit the Royal BC Museum and Craigdarroch Castle on your Victoria touring day. Also stop in at Rogers Chocolates on Government Street just a couple blocks up from the Empress Hotel. (the Queen's favorite chocolates, and for good reason. YUMMY!). The coastal drive along Dallas Road from the southwestern edge of Victoria to the Oak Bay area is also quite scenic and enjoyable.

9. Re: 3 day itinerary??

Okay..if not much to see in Sidney, can we combine Victoria and Sidney into one day (Sunday) and then we will look for something to do our last day before leaving at 8pm...is there another drive we can take - we like nice little towns, scenic drives....???
