Food suggestions

My husband and I (we're in our mid twenties) will be staying at the Marriot Victoria for one night, and are looking for restaurant/cafe suggestions near by (10-15 minute walking distance). In particular,

- places for lunch, $10-15 a person

- place for dinner, $10-$20 a person

We're not big on seafood, but love italian, french, or burger/sandwich places, especially unique places (no chains).

Haha does anyone have some good suggestions?

Hi MorganPost ~

Are you by any chance aware that the green navigation bar holds information and reviews in the section called "Restaurants?"

Here is a map showing the restaurants (all red balloons and dots) located near the Marriott which is represented by the purple balloon. While you're waiting for some suggestions, you can hover your mouse over the balloons and dots for the names and check out the reviews on TA. To do that type the name of the restaurant + Victoria in the search field above the green navigation bar. By browsing through the listings and looking at the resto website (often linked just under the listing name) for the menu, you can find some restos that you find appealing.

Having $20 as the upper end of you dinner budget will limit your choices. So maybe brew pub like Canoe or Spinnakers.

Go to Pagliaccis for lunch, they have great soup and salads, great different pasta dishes. look at their menu online! Fun place crowded, kitchy,, very popular with locals, ,often busy.. winter and summer.

For dinner your budget is a tad tight, but doable.. look at eating at pubs.. or maybe if weather is nice take out like fish and chips from Red Fish Blue Fish,, oh yeah you don't like fish, bummer, we are on a an island, lol

OK, best burgers in town are at Bin 4, my stepdaughter swears by the goat cheese and chicken burger , my man goes for the Black and Blue Angus beef burger.

Easy to walk to from inner harbour, takes about 15 minutes but worth it, map on website.

The Dutch Bakery on Fort Street offers a varied menu for lunch at great prices, and their pastries and other goodies should not be missed. Il Terrazzo just off Johnson is the best Italian restaurant in Victoria and the Tapa Bar in Trounce Alley between Government and Douglas has small plates that will please anyone. You can hit your $20 pp target for dinner if you choose carefully. Food at both places is excellent!

Flying Otter at the float plane terminal right on the water.

Pagliacci's another vote but tables are very close together and it is very busy you might have to wait for a table.

Murchies for lunch on Government Street - More of a cafeteria style

Browns Social House on Douglas Street - 1 block from the Empress Hotel
