Victoria with Teenagers....

We are thinking of a daytrip from San Juan Islands to Victoria. Visiting Butchart Gardens, Inner Harbor, and possibly the Craigdarroch Castle (possible in 1 long day)?. Do you think Victoria is more of an adult destination or would teenagers enjoy it also? We have already booked a whale watch trip while on SJI. Thanks.

Victoria is great for all ages. Your teenagers would love Government Street and I would pass on Craigdarroch and do the Royal BC Museum instead.

Thanks for your response. Government Street looks like something the kids would like.

We took our kids and our grandkids to Victoria several times when they were teens -- ages from 13 to 19 when we traveled. Our son and daughter enjoyed "a pint" with fish-n-chips when they were legal age (18) there. LOL. But at all ages, they enjoyed Craigdarroch Castle, Royal BC Museum, Butchart Gardens, Miniature World, Chinatown and shopping on Government Street.

Our grandson (now 27) enjoyed his trips to Victoria so much, he took his bride there for their honeymoon.

Legal age to drink in BC is 19. Has been for decades.

I have taken teens (boys and girls) to the Royal BC Museum - big hit. Depending on the kid's interests really but I would pass on Craigdarroch Castle and Chinatown - miniature world would be iffy.

legal drinking age is 19 here - 18 will get you past the doorman in Alberta though.

Actually, my memory was a little faulty. We took our kids with us on our 3rd trip to Victoria in summer 1982. Daughter would have been 20 then, son 19. Both December babies -- 1961 and 1962.

I think it was at Old Vic Fish n' Chips.

If you have a car and border on the more adventurous side, you might want to take them zip lining:

The IMAX theatre in Royal BC Museum is always entertaining.

Or you may wish to go to All Fun Go Karts - they have batting cages, mini golf, etc.

Lots to do downtown just walking around.

Our kids (and grandkids) also enjoyed trying (and buying) the many varieties of sweet treats at Rogers Chocolates on Government Street.
