Seattle to Victoria

We are going to be in Seattle in late July for a convention. I have always wanted to visit Butchart Gardens. I doubt if we can stay in BC more than a few days but need usome advice on the best method of travel from Seattle to Victoria and back. I assume that limiting our visit to Victoria is best.

Thanks for any advice.

The Clipper is the easiest, fastest, nicest way to go. Check their web page as they have packages.. If you don't want a package you can easily get to Butchart on public transit. Look at top questions on the Victoria forum for info on getting to Butcharts.

+1 for the Clipper (3 hour sailing). Then about 10 minutes walk from the dock to Humboldt and Government Street .... http://goo.gl/maps/CwiS2 .... you will find the CSV Shuttle stop. You can either pay for shuttle (40 minutes) and admission to the Gardens, or you can tell them you want shuttle only $15? or so. It's not a guided tour thing, you are free to wander on the Gardens as you wish, and you are free to take the shuttle of your choice back downtown.

One more thing. General opinion is that putting your email on a public forum invites unwanted spam.

+1 for taking the Clipper to Victoria, staying 2 or 3 days without a car and then Clipper back to Seattle.

However, this isn't your only option, so it rather depends what you want. An alternative would be to rent a car and drive up the Olympic Peninsula to Port Angles, taking the Blackball ferry across to Victoria, spending a night or two, then taking either the WSDOT ferry from Sydney to Anacortes or the BC ferry from Swartz Bay to Tsawwassen (depending on which one better suits your schedule) and then drive back to Seattle from there.

Taking the Clipper would be relaxing and easy. Driving would give you more opportunity to see the area.
