When is the best time to visit vancouver for hiking and outdoor activities?

How are Sept. and Oct.?

Also, where do you recommend staying for beautiful views and close proximity to outdoor adventures.

The best time for outdoor activities and hiking is the summer here in Vancouver. However, September can be very pleasant as well. October might bring more rainy days.

To be near great views and the outdoors, you could stay in Coal Harbour at the Westin Bayshore - it overlooks the harbour and Stanley Park, and then you are close to Stanley Park's seawall, and also English Bay is nearby. You are also near to the Lion's Gate Bridge, which leads to many of the mountains such as Cypress which is great for hiking, and other local hikes over there, as well as more oceanside activities. Not to mention that the Bayshore is an excellent hotel!

I would concur on September. September is probably the driest month in this area. The days are still warm and the nights not too long. Moreover, the crowds have gone back to work or school but most recreational facilities are still operating. The good weather sometimes lasts into October, but the nights get longer and colder.

As for a place to stay, try for a place that has good access to North Vancouver and the hinterland beyond. That would mean in the area of downtown Vancouver, the West End, or Coal Harbour.

The Westin Bayshore is an excellent location. If your budget is big, the hotels near Canada Place offer good view and access to transportation. If you are in a car, and your budget is medium, you might consider one of the motor hotels at the north end of the Lions Gate Bridge, in North Vancouver: such as the Ramada Limited or Comfort Inn on Capilano Road. These have good access to downtown, the mountains, and the water, and you can park for free.
