Help planning a few days in Vancouver please!

We are looking for somewhere to stay in Vancouver either side of our honeymoon cruise to Alaska but struggling!

The cruise leaves early on 2nd June from Canada Place. We will have driven through the Rockies from Calgary over the preceeding 2 weeks. We will leave Pemberton on 01 June and hope to arrive in Vancouver by the afternoon. We would then like to spend the afternoon and evening enjoying Vancouver and stay in Vancouver 1st June night. We have to return our hire car on 1st too.

We return from the cruise back at Canada Place early on 9th June. We would like to spend the day exploring and stay the night. We then have pretty much a full day on 10th as our flight home leaves at midnight.

I've been looking for accommodation and really struggling as everything in downtown Vancouver is sooo expensive! To be honest, we prefer guest houses anyway but as I guess you would expect, these tend to be out of town. Can anyone suggest where the most accessable (and nice) out of town lcoations are as we won't have a car and will need to rely on public transport. (also need to bear in mind getting to and from Canada Place for the cruise)

Any suggestions of B&B/guest houses would be great (up to about $140 cdn per night max) and/or suggestions of areas we might want to consider looking. (Romantic would be good as it is our honeymoon!)

Also, any suggestions of good but reasonably priced seafood/fish restaurants would be great too.

Thanks for your help

There are several B&B's in and near downtown Vancouver. You will want those in the West End or in Kitsilano. Look at the list of B&B's in the TripAdvisor hotel listings (middle tab). Early June isn't quite the height of the summer tourism season, so you might find something in your price range.

Seafood: If you want fresh fish, a fun experience, and the weather is nice, go to Go Fish, an outdoor fish 'n chips stand near Granville Island. It's a bit tricky to find if you don't know where it is, but it's just north of the "neck" onto GI proper. Follow the Island Park Walk north and you will see it on the left. You may want to visit GI anyway, and I would recommend Go Fish over most of the eateries on GI.
