Anyone stayed at Moby Dick recently?

Listed under specialty accomodations, two exceedingly phony reviews posted by people who coincidentally joined same day or day before.

Anyone actually stayed here recently? It does seem to be a good location, pretty much walking distance from ferry and downtown.

Hi, I live down the street from the Moby Dick - it is utilitarian, OK, but nothing special. I stayed there once, but it was a while ago. It has a restaurant, is very convenient for the ferry and yes you can walk downtown in about 30 minutes. If you are a non-smoker, I suggest the Buccaneer Inn. While the rooms are a bit small, they are spotless and service is just great. The beds, bedding and pillows are to die for - it is a gem! And even closer to the ferry. There is no restaurant on site. We stayed there for three days in January when repairs were being completed on our home. We also send friends/family there when we can't put them up. Hope this helps

I second the Buccaneer Inn. I occationally need to stay overnight in Nanaimo for work and have tried all the cheap hotels. The Buccaneer Inn was a pleasant surprise. Very clean and well kept.
