Christmas in BC

Planning to escape this Christmas!

If these have been answered in previous posts please direct me to them.

We are going to fly to Vancouver from Barcelona, stay 2/3 nights in Vancouver then head up to a ski area for a week or so. We have a few questions:

Which hotel to stay in, in Vancouver

Which ski area to go to and hotel recommendations.

How to get to the ski area.

Can you recommend some good restaurants and things to do in Vancouver.

Are the snow conditions usually good from around the 20 December?

We'd like to stay in condo's in the ski resort but a small boutique type hotel in Vancouver would be nice. Would stay in a big international if the price is better. In the ski area we like resorts that are pretty and quaint with nice restaurants and apres ski bars, dog/sleigh sledding etc.

Happy to travel by local public transport.

Like very good food and willing to pay for it if excellent.

Yes, there have been many discussions on these topics. The seach function can be helpful.

The most well known ski area is Whistler, only 2 hrs by road from Vancouver. Because it is world renowned, it is also very expensive, but lots to do and endless ski terrain. That would be the first place to look at.

If you are willing to travel a bit more (3 - 5 hrs by road) from Vancouver, then you have many more options to choose from, with excellent snow conditions and terrain, as well as less expensive accommodation and lift tickets.

Asking for hotel recommendations can get you an overwhelming pile of choices especially without price parameters. Here are my two choices. Classy but certainly not boutique. http://www.fairmontpacificrim.com/ and http://www.fairmont.com/whistler.
