Any 1 week tours available?

Hoping to visit relatives later this year and stay for 3 weeks. I plan on staying with them for 2 weeks and possibly do a tour for a week. I know it's not much time, but it's all I have for now, until I return another time.

Any suggestions?

I'll be based in Grande Cache for the 2 weeks.

Hello, Vanessa.

Well, to answer your question we need to know if you're driving (ie. renting a car) or if you need an organized tour on a bus or something to that effect.

Also, we would need to know what time of year you'll be here, as that will make all the difference. I strongly recommend coming between June and September (keeping in mind July and August will be busier with tourists). Unless you're into skiing or Winter sports I strongly advise against coming in the Winter.

Sorry....I'll be there at the start of October and would prefer an organised tour to give me a taste of what is out there.

I have to be there in October, but in future, I will travel during other months, well, hopefully LOL.

Are you looking for a rockies tour? Or if you are based in Grand Cache, will your relatives be taking you? Alberta is quite diverse in scenery, so you could head to the rockies or even head east towards Drumheller and see a completely different side of the prairies, but in October the weather might be iffy.

The tourist season ends with the Canadian Thanksgiving holiday (second Monday in October) and most companies that offer escorted or multi-day coach tours are winding down by the end of September or early October.

I would suggest googling "coach tour Edmonton". I got hits for Anderson Vacations as well as Brewster Tours, which offers tours up to October 11: vacationscanada.travel/packages/…

Thanks everyone for your replies. Not sure what I want to see as I only have a week unfortunately.

I don't want to rely on the relos as they have jobs etc.

Forgot to mention, he doesn't know I'm coming as it is a surprise, therefore I can't exactly ask him to take time off and show me around.

I'll see if I can stretch my leave for a further week, so that can maybe give me 2 weeks to tour.

Have actually been looking at the Rocky Mountaineer, but it is quite pricey.

I would personally suggest getting a rental car for your entire stay, and then explore during your free time. Besides, a typical drop-off charge for a one way rental almost amount to a two week economy car rental.
