>>>>>>I read somewhere while doing my research on the internet that the road east of Golden is being closed intermittently & to expect delays, <<<<<<
I think what you may have read about is the mud slides that have been happening in the construction area there, given the heavy rains we have been experiencing. The area is under construction, but we were through there on the Victoria Day weekend and only waited a few minutes.
Besides, construction is how you improve things for everybody. In the great white north summer is the only time to do this, It is unavoidable. I don't think you should avoid an area just because you might have to wait a few minutes. Who knows what you may discover while you're waiting, or what you might discover down the road after the wait is over?
My philosophy has always been that, if for some reason I have to sit and wait for awhile, there must be a reason for that and I may as well make the best of it. You know - when life gives you lemons.... make lemonade!!!!! (Or something like that!)
So, if you want to discover Golden/Field/Yoho while you are in the Canadian Rockies, don't let some silly thing like road construction stop you.
(Sorry - I didn't mean to make that sound like a rant, although in retrospect, I think that's the way it may have come off!)
