There are a couple of nice restaurants in that immediate area which you may want to check out: Mercato West (Italian) and Vin Room West (tapas with wine pairings in the evening, set menu at lunchtime. I'm addicted to Ohh La La Patisserie; his Mediterranean scones & cheddar cheese & bacon brioches are yummy, and of course the pain au chocolat and chocolate scones can't be beat. But the specialty is macarons in an incredible variety of flavours.
I'm not too knowledgeable about BBQ in Calgary. The closest place to Canada Olympic Park (COP) that I know of is Big T's BBQ, which is near McMahon Stadium and the U of C. Check the reviews to see what you think. There's also Booker's BBQ Grill and Crab Shack on the east side of downtown. Again, I haven't been there so check the reviews. Finally, there's the big American Tony Roma's chain. They specialize in BBQ ribs. Their nearest restaurant would be the one in Crowfoot. Some people like Tony Roma's, some folks won't go near it because it's a chain. I've had mixed experiences, but haven't been to one for a while.
I should also add that there are some Korean BBQ restaurants in Calgary, if that concept interests you.
