does anyone know whether the Australian licence is accepted in Canada to drive ?

"...international drivers arriving in Canada must present a valid driver’s licence from their country of residence. If the driver's licence is in a language other than English, an International Driver's Permit is required in conjunction with the country of residence driver's license."

In Alberta, the government policy is that you may drive on your home jurisdiction licence for up to 90 days if you are here on a work visa or permanenet resident card. If you are here on a visitor visa or student visa, you may drive on that licence until your visa expires.

Hi Icebreaker,

You won't have any problems renting a car with an Australian license - as long as it's in English it's fine! However, if you do a lot of travelling it can be worth investing in an international drivers license. I just got mine and it only cost $30 and took 5 minutes to get! It's only valid for one year but for me it's worth the price.

You wont have a problem using aussie license.We rented cars last year a number of times and did not have any issues come up.
