Has anybody else tried, and failed, to contact Expedia.ca in the past few days?

We booked flights through the site, then a schedule change was emailed to me.

I have spent the better part of the past 3 days trying to get hold of Expedia to sort out my flights and rebook as necessary. I was on hold, on multiple occasions, for as many as three hours with no contact.

I have also tried numerous emails but have had absolutely no response.

My travel is not imminent, but let this be a warning to others who have booked through the site.

If you have to change your plans, cancel or update your itinerary, etc. if you have booked through Expedia then the changes have to be made through Expedia. The airlines cannot help you. And, if you cannot contact them, then you have a bit of a problem!!

This is extremely frustrating and I feel very sorry for anyone else who was travelling in the past few days and had issues because Expedia was not responding.

Please be warned.

Also note that although United and AirCanada reps could not help me with the bookings, they did try to assist by giving me updated information for when Expedia decides to provide some customer service.

Unfortunately hotel bookings can be confirmed with a hotel and if it's for a night or two will not completely ruin a holiday. Flights are another issue entirely.

I've used expedia for hotels (in Europe) and never encountered a problem, but would definitely be ultra cautious about booking flights or holiday packages.

Sorry for those encountering problems.

I have a flight credit that expires in 30 days. I wanted to apply it to a ticket that I need to book for travel 2 weeks from now and I too have experienced the most disgustingly poor customer service imaginable. It is now the 4th day of trying to contact their call center and I can't get through because nobody picks up the phone. I have waited between 1 and 2 hours each attempt and finally hang up in disgust. I have called at 1:00AM, 9:30AM, 4:00PM and 8:00PM -same thing each time.

I have also emailed Expedia.ca twice and although the website proudly states that a 'representative' will respond.... guess what? Nothing. No response. My second email also demanded that I speak to a supervisor call me - still nada.

... disgusting and embarrassing (for Expedia management). What a terrible service.

Hi;

As I posted in the Toronto forum;

If you and the others that have posted comments here are having these problems, how many other people are having the same problems, but haven't been heard from?

Perhaps contacting a TV station would help.

Best Regards

I sent an email to TICO-Travel Industry Council of Ontario and received a very prompt reply.

Unfortunately, "customer service" is NOT legislated as a requirement but the TICO Complaints Officer did contact Expedia and forwarded my emailed compliant. I was supposed to have been contacted by Expedia's Manager of Travel Services. This has not happened as of today (Thursday).

Perhaps the BBB of ON, if Expedia is a member, could help??

Media is a very good idea, also.

My itinerary changed and I have been trying to contact expedia.ca for about 2 weeks now. I don't exactly have the time to stay on hold until someone picks up the phone - I do have to work. I actually called United and told them that I wanted to confirm that expedia.ca actually booked the flights they said they were going to book. The United rep then confirmed that the flight was booked but that we did not have seats yet, so, she confirmed my seats for me.

I also filed a complaint with the BBB in Ontario and they have until Oct. 3 to respond. We will see what happens. In the meantime, I received an answer to one of my many email queries. It took them 10 days to respond and their response was for me to call them.

I have used expedia.ca before and never ran into any problems, probably because there were no changes or anything. After this experience, I will not book with expedia.ca ever again.

Re: Your flight credit -

Contact the airline directly and give them the ticket number from your original itinerary. The United rep told me that was all they needed to reissue the ticket

Forget about trying to reach Expedia.ca - won't happen

Food and travels: I will contact the ON BBB also. I have also emailed Tony Tighe @ Global and will see if that goes anywhere.

I still have not heard from the MANAGER at Expedia.ca.

I have tried Expedia.com, been connected immediately to an agent both times but they cannot access .ca bookings. It is weird because the automated voice, prompting for an itinerary number, gives some information regarding the itinerary right away. The .com agent just gives the 1-888 number for .ca and as we all know, that is useless!

I do know that my flights are booked with United as I too booked my seats, which Expedia claimed couldn't be done. What a load.

NEVER will I book through them AGAIN. The $$$ saved is certainly not worth the aggravation--this has been 8 days now.

UPDATE: To date, I have been unable to contact Expedia by phone. Now, I am just getting "unable to connect call" messages.

I got an emailed reply from Expedia; my email was dated September 20th and the reply is dated October 2nd. Naturally, the email tells me to call their 1-888 number.

Please, do not book with this outfit. I do not know what is going on but this is ridiculous.

I have filed a complaint with the BBB of MidWestern & Central Ontario.

I have never heard from the Manager of Customer Service at Expedia.ca.

have had that problem and have been on hold for hours and hours over and over but i found out how to contact them. Both times i have done this, i had a representative within 20 minutes. Call expedia.ca and when the voice prompts come on, dont press anything....DONT PRESS ANY BUTTONS.....seriously, it worked. Try it if you have problems. I told them that the whole system is a joke but at least now you dont have to listen to the same "running thru a meadow" classic song repeating over and over and over and over...
