Eating out with a large group & cooking ideas

We are travelling to the VDPF in February. There is 14 of us.....8 adults and 6 kids ages 4-6. We normally like to eat in our condo one night and then eat out the next night. Obviously it can be an issue trying to get in to a restaurant with that many people. Does anyone have any suggestions of places that would be suitable for our needs?

If you stay in a room with a kitchenette, what sort of things do you cook? We have done faitas, pastas, tacos etc but always find it difficult to get creative without having an oven.

Lastly, any items that you would not leave home without?

I think just about anywhere could accomadate your large group, just make sure that you make reservations.

As far as cooking goes, without an oven, you could pan fry some fresh fish or shrimp. Do you have access to a BBQ, if so, an arracherra beef BBQ'd is to die for and will feed a large group.

We do not have access to a BBQ...which is too bad. Is there a good place to buy seafood or just get it from the Mega?

The best place to buy fresh seafood is at the La Cruz fish market, but there are a couple of places in Bucerias also. Check on the Bucerias forum for more results.

The fish market is worth the trip, great prices, fresh fish and a bit of an adventure. We like to buy a big Mahi-Mahi and freeze some of it for a few nights down the road. Giant prawns are fantastic.

The Wall Mart seems to have the best steaks.

How far is LaCruz from Bucerias? Sounds like the fish market is the place to go. Is it easy to find?

La Cruz is only about 10 minutes past Bucerias. There is also a fantastic Sunday morning market right beside the fish market.

Is there other things at the market in La Cruz worth checking out? I believe I read it is on Sunday's. Anything for kids there?
