Hello,

Myself , my husband and or our 6 year old son are planning a vacation to Mexico. Since this is out first ever trip to Mexico...we don't know where would it be best to stay at? here are the hotel options that we have:

1. RIU Palace Mexico

2.RIU Palace Riviera Maya

3.Paradisus Riviera

We are looking for a hotel that is a definite 5* star, has good kids club/entertainment for kids my sons age...definitely looking for good food, nice rooms, clean-seaweed free beaches, nice pool, interesting entertainment for us (adults).

We have been to RIU Ocho Rios Jamaica in november 2005 and absolutely loved it there. Don't know anything about above listed resorts in Mexico.

Another question I would like to ask is...did anyone who stayed in either of these resorts got sick? i mean stomach, gastroentestinal problems? My father in law went to Cancun 10 years ago and came back with salmonella...I am worried ...about stories as such.

I appreciate in advance all of the replies!

Hi. When are you going to Cancun? My family is going in December, and are booked at the Paradisus Riviera. It seems to have everything you are looking for, and has gotten good reviews for the most part. Let me know what you think, if you go there. We will have a large group with lots of kids of all ages, so hopefully they have lots of activities. I'm really looking forward to it. Hope you have a great time, whereever you go!

We looked into the Paradisus also. When our TA told us the buffet is not Air conditioned, we crossed it off our list.

We have stayed at both Riu Palaces- they are both outstanding.

How are the beaches at the RIU palaces? I read on another post that the beach was not nice in front of the Paradisus???

Help! Debating between Punta Cana, La Romana and Riviera Maya but a beautiful beach is the ultimate key to where we choose. Thanks!

We have stayed in a Paradisis in Costa Rica and the buffet too was open air, not air conditioned and it was also quite fly infested. Yechh! I only ate little boxed cereal for breakfast. Also the steak and lobster restaurant was open air, and I only ate the inside of a baked potato. Everyone else in our group of 8 were ill except for me. I would never stay in another Paradisis. Have stayed in Riu's in Mexico and never had a problem. We are booked for RPRM in 2 weeks, Yahooo!
