Was the Barcelo Tropical/Colonial built at the same time as the Beach and the Caribe...and is the pier that you walk out on , is it not by the Tropical Colonial end

The Beach/Caribe were built in 1999, and the Colonial/Tropical in 2005 (followed by the Palace in 2007).

The pier is close to the water sports center and extends from a point between the Colonial and the Caribe.

Here is a link to a map of the complex to help you visualize:

Hope this helps!

So...when I was there it was just the beach and the caribe that was built...so can you tell me what the beach front is like in front of the Colonial/Tropical....

Does each section have a theatre now....

I remember you mentioned in another post that requests usually are on deaf ears..is that always the case. Colonial seems to be experiencing some poor reviews lately...wonder why that would be...do they use the Colonial side more than the Tropical side

There are (3) theaters. One for the Palace, one for the Colonial/Tropical, and one for the Beach/Caribe.

The Colonial side is where their convention center is located, which attracts many large group bookings.

The beach front itself is quite nice from the southernmost Beach resort all the way north to the Tropical. As you go further up towards the Palace, it becomes more rocky, which is favored for snorkeling.

And it is still quite a task to get Barcelo management to honor any advance-arrival requests, but you can try sending them to: fan@barcelomaya.com

and be sure to include your tour operators name, booking number, and exact arrival date. Send 7-10 days prior to arrival only as they won't even have your folio information from the tour operator till then!
