We've been to both. CRM (suite) once and GPC (mayan suite) three times, so that should say something...

Food - Pretty good at both, but GP doesn't require reservations at any of their 7 (8?) ala cartes.

Rooms - Both were quite comfortable and spacious, but we love the outdoor showers in the GP Mayan Suites.

Grounds - CRM is more compact. If you are adverse to walking, GP may not be for you as the place is huge. Not an issue with us. There is a "cart train" that runs regularly back and forth between the two HUGE lobby areas.

Beach - For us, here's the catch. CRM is on a small bay with scarcely any length of their rocky man-made beach to walk (200 yards? Maybe?) and terribly painful water entry. The beach seating is also quite cramped with virtually zero privacy. People from the resort to the sough were trying to sit in the CRM loungers as their beach was over capacity (on the same little bay). Security was kept busy kicking them out... It was crazy. OK, maybe we are spoiled as we've had some great times on Xpu Ha, Tulum, Maroma and Akumal beaches.

GP has a looooong beach. Some areas have a rocky entry, but the entire north end and the property beyond is usually walkable and wadeable in bare feet. However, one storm can change that at ANY resort. Plenty of spade betewwn palapas and lots of shade available on the Kantenah end of the resort.

Snorkeling - No snorkeling to speak of at CRM, just lots of dead coral rubble. Pretty good snorkeling at GP. We've seen big barracudas, eagle rays, lots of assorted fishes and even turtles just beyong the ropes at the Kantenah end.

If you are "pool party people", CRM is a great place. The pool and surrounding area are hopping all day. If you are a beach person and enjoy a little more solitude, GP would be my recommendation. Actually, GP had both "venues", but the resort (actually 4 resorts) is big enough to keep them somewhat separated.

Have you looked into Catalonia Royal Tulum (we've been there twice) - the all-adult "sister resort" to CRM? It's on a great beach with lots of sand to roam. Both resorts are operated by the Hoteles Catalonia group, as is Catalonia Playa Maroma (been there once). They are all nice resorts, but the beach conditions have kept us from returning to CRM.

Just our opinion - PM if any specific questions.

Palladium is a HUGE resort. Everything is far away. Catalonia is a small resort with everything within a 5 minute walk. The town of Puerto Aventuras is a short 10 minute walk from the CAT. Two excellent dive shops in town. There is also a dive shop at the CAT. All of the restaurants have good food and we really liked the buffets too. We have been to the CAT 6 times and planning our next trip. My husband goes diving and I lay on the beach and get some sun. Perfect!!!

Also, the CAT has a loud pool and also a quiet pool. No need to be at the party pool if you don't want to. They have 5 pools. Good luck choosing. Snorkeling is good in front of the resort.
