Ixtapa vs Zihuatanejo with kids

Needing some opinions from experienced TAs ...we are flying into Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo in March with our 4 kids, ages 7, 10, 15yrs. We have never been here before and have narrowed down two places to stay...The Palmetto Ixtapa condo next to Las Brisas or Casa Que Ve Al Mar above La Ropa beach.

We are typically Hawaii travellers but have been to PV with kids and Cancun/ Playa without.

Needing advice on beach safety at each area, and distance to restaurants/shopping with kids.

Would appreciate any good kid friendly restaurant recommendations too!

Gracias:)

The only tiny bit of a negative thing- is that if they enjoy meeting and hanging with other kids their age, they might be SOL staying at Casa Que ve el Mar. There usually isn't a lot of kids staying there, there might be none at all besides yours or only a couple other kids here and there. :)

If they get along with just each other to play with, then no issues! We have stayed there twice and it is a wonderful complex. And La Ropa beach is perfect for kids!

(Just thought I would bring it up as most of the people I know prefer to take their kids to large AIs with kids clubs, where they can go eat when they are hungry, etc. I know families love a place like the Club Med in Ixtapa, for example. :) )

Thanks for the heads up Rissask...they are pretty good at hanging out together.

Glad to hear the condo is as nice as it appears online!

They will have a great time, then!

Which one are you renting? The two we rented were exactly as depicted. The Marlin House (2 bedroom) and La Chula.

We are in the penthouse as the 2 bedroom was booke- we have the 3 bedroom in building A...don't know name.

We've done AIs before but are looking for something with less crowds and the buffets get tiring after 2 or 3 days, lol. Hoping to get someone in to cook a few meals for us just so we get a break too.

Sounds great! Have a wonderful vacation.

Pretty much all the nearby restaurants will be kid friendly- no problems there. Mexican people are very family oriented. :) The only exceptions might be the VERY 'fancy' places. Kids love eating on the beach, so there are a few places just down the street and on La Ropa that will suit you fine!
