2 weeks in October - Toronto and Vancouver

Hi Friends

I am planning a vacation to Canada from 02 October to 20 October with my wife and 5 year old daughter. We will have 15 days in hand excluding the travel time from India. We only want to cover Vancouver and Toronto as we have family and friends in these 2 places which is very comfortable for us to stay - home away from home.

1. Top things - Need your help in identifying the top things to do based out of these 2 places.

2. Day trips or overnight stays - We are open to day trips or even a night stay if required, at a place which can be covered from Vancouver or Toronto - if the place is something not to be missed.

3. Which city should be covered first - Toronto or Vancouver? Or both will have same kind of weather between October 2nd to 20th?

4. Wishlist - We really want to cover the Niagara Falls, National Park, Mountains. Family and children attractions will be our top priority.

Shopping, city eating, pubs, casinos are least priority.

A few hints and tips will really help me plan on the right lines... Right now I am very confused as there is so much available on the internet and travel sites.

Many thanks in advance.

Cheers, Ashim

Hi Ashim and welcome to the forum ~

The first thing you need to do is break your questions into two parts and ask the Toronto questions on the Toronto Forum and the Vancouver questions on the Vancouver Forum. This forum is a lame duck really.

I will assume that you are ready to fly the 4.5 hours hours and 2 time zones between Toronto and Vancouver

1. Across the top of the page you will find a green navigation bar containing a tab for Things to Do. This is where you will find the top things to do that appeal to you.

2. Ask on the separate forums. Whistler is a nice day trip from Vancouver. www.whistlerblackcomb.com ... and .... www.whistler.com

3. Toronto gets colder in October before Vancouver does, but they may have more beautiful red colours on the changing leaves than Vancouver.

4. Google search for the attractions you want to visit, then read about them. Examples: Tourism Niagara Falls, as well as the Niagara Falls Forum. Tourism Toronto. Tourism Vancouver. Ask about your chosen attractions on the separate forums.

Look on the Vancouver and Toronto Forums. Use the green navigation bar topics. To the right side, you will find Top Questions. These help you learn about important topics for the location. Also open and read other questions being asked and the replies being given on each forum. That will provide you with gold nuggets of good information that you can use.

I would consider flying into Toronto for half your time, one day in the middle to fly to Vancouver, then fly home from Vancouver.

Thanks a ton for your prompt response. I am already going through some of the earlier posts and articles. Trying to get a hang of this vast geography :) I know its a long flight but we will have to cover both the places... cannot afford to mess with families living on 2 different ends of Canada.

I will do some more research and post these questions separately on the 2 forums you suggested.

One last question on this forum, if you can advise which out of the 2 places has more things to do... so that I can plan accordingly. I may be more mobile in Vancouver though.

Cheers, ashim

Look at the separate forums as has been advised - each has lists of things to do. If you only have two weeks, then logically you should spend a week in each city. Each city has more than enough things to do to keep you busy ... and I'm sure your families will also have plans for you!

Each has excellent public transportation to get around, and car rentals are available.

Hi spsing, welcome to the forum ~

You can certainly fly from Delhi to Toronto to Vancouver and back home to Delhi on one ticket, no problem.

Use the Skyscanner website: www.skyscanner.ca

or the Matrix website: http://matrix.itasoftware.com/ to search for possible flights. I'm sure you will have to connect somewhere in England perhaps to change to a plane to Canada.

Use the "multi city" button, not the "return" or "one way" button to enter your 3 destinations.

But when you are ready, book directly with the airline.

Please start a new topic next time instead of adding on to an old thread from 6 months ago.

If you need more air travel help for flying from Delhi to Toronto and Vancouver, you can post a question on the Air Travel Forum. There are many many experienced travellers there who will help you find the right flights and routes. You can see the orange rectangle "Ask a Question" just above the list of topics.
