Back from Maya Tankah Tulum |
|
I have just (I mean just now) returned from Tulum and I will post photos and a review on Maya Tankah. I will say thanks to holly and Pepper and everyone ... we had by far thge best vacation ever. But 1 week is simply not enough. We are actually thinking of buying land, building a villa in the Tulum area and renting it out when we are not there ... that how much we loved it and the people. Anyhow, I will answer all questions and post many many topics because we learned so much on this trip and we did everything right, researched the trip used these forums and abused the local experts who were instrumental in the fantastic adventure. Dan PS For the record, Maya Tankah was wonderful and the staff, well I fell in love with everyone there ... Quintana Roo and the Yucatan people are lovely, warm, open, and damn fun :-) |

Ohh...Dan...that's wonderful. I have actually been thinking about you - to see how Maya Tankah really is. Can't wait to hear the details. I'm so glad it worked out; I was worried for while.

We had the most fantastic vacation. Maya Tankah is not for everyone, I will conceid that point, but for us little imperfections are not a big deal. So the hotel need minor repairs to the pool and common areas, so some of the rooms need a lot of tender loving care and many repairs, at the end of the day, the rooms are super clean, the staff work so hard for you to enjoy your stay that you fall in love with them and what can you say about Quintana Roo and the Yucatan regions ... Paradise is not ever strong enough to describe it. We loved everything (BTW we did not see any scorpions but saw that mother of all terantula on the road in the evening, those things move fast, but you were right, it was more afraid of me than I was of it). There is so much I want to say ... I learned so much on this trip ... We are absolutely going back next year and we will go back to Maya Tankah. I will say this, if you want R&R, good food (and the food was fantastic and very tasty) good booze (believe me I tasted everything including Superior beer, Sol, Coco-Loco. Sangria Maya, Blue lagoon, Banada Daquirie, margarita, etc.). Anyhow, I will post photos, reviews, topics I am in love ... I mean I really am in love with the area and the people. Dan PS Pepper thank you so very much for everything you were and I know I've said it but you Robert, Holly and everyone that write on these forums and review are amazing ressources and I know this trip would have been good without you guys but you made it fantastic ... so i will never be able to thank you all enough.

I'm so thrilled that you didn't cancel your trip...it was getting grim there for a moment...and that you fell in love with the area. Yeah...the only time I've seen a tarantula was at night crossing the road...they do move fast. Make sure you do a lot, A LOT, of reading before you try buying anything. A lady I know who has a place on ejido land basically has this philosphy: if you can't afford to lose it, don't do it.

We're booked for Feb. 27 - March 6...I've posted some questions...do you have time to check them out for me...just wanting some information on the resort...Your pics were awesome! Thanks so much for sharing!!!
